Manifest Destiny

July 11, 1865 - With the Civil War recently completed,Horace Greeley unofficially kicks off America's western expansion, or at least provides it a slogan, with his editorial in the New York Tribune. "Go west, young man!" became the rallying cry of those seeking both personal and financial growth west of the Mississippi.

July 19, 2006 - "Go West, young woman, and grow up with the country!"
